X-Men: After the Chaos is a movie based RPG, taking place after X-Men: The Last Stand, although we have made a few changes to continuity for the sake of sanity.
The United States Government had become worried about the potential power and danger of mutants. In response, they began to debate a new bill that would require all mutants to register their powers and abilities. Because of this, Magneto had decided to to use his knowledge and technology to turn some of these government officials into mutants themselves, thereby changing their minds on any anti-mutant legislation. Charles Xavier's X-Men stopped Magneto from accomplishing his plan. The result however was the opposite. In reaction to his plot, the United States Senate voted approval of the Mutant Registration Act, and sent it to the United States House of Representatives. for the necessary vote.
Later on, Magneto's associates attempted an assassination of the President of the United States. This act was yet again to prove a point. "Aggressiveness towards mutants would lead to aggressiveness from mutants." This act actually made it possible for a Mutant-hater, General William Stryker, to convince the President that mutants were a threat. General Stryker attacked mutant kind and attempted to destroy them all due to his mutant son killing his own wife. The X-Men foiled General Stryker's plot and then convinced the sitting President that mutants were not his enemy. Jean Grey apparently sacrificed herself to help her teammates escape.
A while after her apparent death, it became clear that after seeing the anguish Jean Grey felt over the loss of her friends, the Phoenix forced sacrificed itself to bring back the woman and her lover. However, when Scott Summers came to the place of Jean Grey's apparent death, the Phoenix lashed out and apparently killed him Later on, when the professor tried to force the Phoenix identity back into dormancy, it lashed out and lead Jean Grey to kill the professor.
Later, a seeming cure for mutation was discovered. It is later revealed that this cure is being manufactured at a laboratory on Alcatraz island, from the blood of a mutant. Magneto and his Brotherhood of Mutants gathered an army to attack and destroy this cure since the U.S. Government turned it into a weapon to forcibly cure mutants against their will. The X-Men defended the facility and the mutant from which the cure was derived, Leech. The end result of this battle was lots of mutants forcibly cured & de-powered, including Magneto, Leech being alive, Cyclops dead, Professor X dead, and Jean Grey being Dead at Wolverine's claws, at her insistence.
After the events of Alcatraz island, all seemed lost. Charles Xavier, Jean Grey, and Scott Summers were presumed dead, the students were scattered, some taking the ‘cure’ being administered, and the school seemed on the brink of closing. The school reopened with Jean Grey and Ororo Munroe as Headmistresses for those mutants who had not taken the cure.
The Mutant Registration act was on the back burner in light of the cure, but once the source of it, a young boy named Leech, was removed from their prison, scientists once more scrambled to find a new method of disabling the powered. While some politicians continued to tout the MRA, enough opposition kept the Act from ever fully coming into light.
The cure itself was not what it was promised, and after a year the mutant abilities began returning in those who had taken it. After effects were varied, with some of those who were powerless in the face of their mutations having limited bursts of new found control, while others were unable to reach the full potential of the powers they had once had access to. Eventually, the Cure wore off completely, and due to an immunity, could not be applied.
S.H.I.E.L.D. is operating out of their New York City Headquarters. The Avengers are yet to be formed. The X-Men are finally getting their act together after Jean, Scott, and Charles are all found to be alive. Magneto is off somewhere unknown, and Mystique is now leading the Brotherhood in his place.

OOC: This takes place after Q and Rogue have returned to the school and after Rylan and Kalina were hired. This is the set up the changes from the student teams to the mentor program and the additional X-Men teams. IC:
The day had been a slow one for Medical. Only one kid needed some scraps cleaned up from getting scrapped up in a flying mishap and Erik was resting well in his Private room just across from Rylan's office. From where the Doctor was seated at his desk he would be able to see the man through both doors resting in his bed reading some book and occasionally moving his head to the classical music that was only heard in that room. In the med lab and Rylan's office, another type of music was being blasted through the speakers. The metal music wouldn't bug Erik in his room and was wired to go off completely when the man paged for him or one of the machines did.
Being that it was a slow day and everything was done the young Doctor was sitting relaxed back in his chair, a tootsie pop in his mouth, and his booted feet up on his desk. His eyes were on the tablet in his hands reading over student's medical records while he sang along to the song blasting through the speakers. If anyone entered they'd probably hear him before he saw them. With the exception of that student and the doll popping in once or twice to get a tootsie pop from the jar on his desk, no one else had come in.
The comm on his desk beeped to life making the music cut off and the first thing Rylan did was glance towards Erik's room. The man was putting his book down on the stand next to his bed before using the remote to turn off the light. Again the comm buzzed and this time the dark-haired doctor reached over and clicked it on. "Rylan." His answered with its Irish accent.
"There's a staff meeting in a few minutes. You going to be able to make it?"
Rylan switched his tablet over to Erik's vitals and gave them a quick look before responding. "Should be fine. Erik's taking a nap and everythings quiet."
"Good. See you there."
Rylan dropped his feet to the floor and got up grabbing a white Doctor's jacket from where he tossed it across a chair earlier. He slid the jacket on over his black t-shirt and jeans and put his comm in its pocket on his way out of the office. The med lab door opened before he reached it as Annie walked in for her shift.
"I gotta go to the meeting." Rylan turned when he passed her and walked towards the doorwards. "If you need me I have my comm and I'm watching his vitals." He held up the tablet briefly. The man reached the door and turned leaving the med lab.
When he reached the war room the automated door opened showing him the room beyond and who was already there. The Professor was among the group already in the room waiting for the meeting to start. Rylan found a spot against the wall near the door in case he had to leave suddenly and leaned back against it.
Unlike the male who just walked in, Aetona had been informed of the meeting before she could head off to train or hunt. But she was far from annoyed, her face calm and somewhat interested in what was to be discussed. Though she wasn't up for guessing what it was about, content to wait for an explanation for such an early seeming get together. Though she did quirk an eyebrow at Rylan, still getting familiar with the new face. It might disconcert him to see her eyes go inhuman but with a blink the yellow feral looking eyes were hidden away.
While silently admonishing herself in her own mind Aetona reoriented on who was likely to start the meeting while trying her best to ignore the...attractive doctor. She was glad her form hadn't gotten far enough to shift so she had feathers, oddly feeling as if she wouldn't want to look foolish in front of the others for once. Her brows furrowed as she closed her eyes shoving those thoughts to the furthest corners of her mind.
At this point she did finally speak up "how many more people are we waiting for? I was going to practice combat in the danger room when someone told me there was a meeting I was needed at". Even if she finally spoke her tone wasn't rude or snarky, much as her unique accent might accidentally cause others to think so; let alone her blunt way of speaking. Query asked however, she resumed her earlier silence upon her own arrival into the war room.
Logan walked into the war room in his usual silence. Nothing like a meeting to end your day. He couldn’t wait to get back to his cabin away from teenagers and hormones, have a beer, grill a steak, and sit and read in blessed silence.
Logan found a part of the wall to prop up and leaned against it, toying with a cigar between his fingers. Stupid no smoking rules. Yet another reason to get the day over with. He nodded to the Irish doctor and the Greek woman.
Theresa and Amara had been standing against one of the walls quietly talking to each other when the others began walking in. They both knew that they were more then welcome to sit at the table but neither really felt as if they had earn a spot in one of those handful of seats. For them the seats were reserved for those X-Men who had been there for years and had put in their time. Although both nodded in greeting as each person walked in, neither really said much, especially after Aetona voiced the question they'd been wondering themselves.
As Jean pulled up to the school, she felt the all to familiar brush against her mind of the professor reaching out his mind in an effort to find her. Smiling as he asked where she was and if she could make a meeting, Jean responded that she would after dropping off a few bags in her room. She wouldn't call what she'd just done a shopping spree but she had a few bags in the backseat of her car with various articles of clothing.
Just under ten minutes later, Jean walked into the war room as one of their newer members asked how many people they were waiting on. Knowing that some of them had been waiting a few minutes already, Jean made her way toward the table and claimed the usual seat she sat in as she said: "Sorry I'm late. Was running errands when I found out about the meeting."
Jean knew she didn't owe anybody any explanations but she figured it would be nice to let those people who had been waiting know why she had arrived a bit late.
Nicholas was running a few miles as he heard his phone beep. It was not long before he stopped jogging as he looked at his phone. It was a meeting that he had to attend to. There was something going to happen and they asked if he could be there. He responded that he was going to be there in a few minutes. He then put back on his music as he jogged back to the institute.
Back at the institute he headed over to the War Room as he looked at the people that were sitting or standing there. He saw the new Doctor Rylan, Aetona and Logan and 3 other ladies. Jean Grey, Amara and Theresa. "It looks like most staff members got a text. I wonder about the rest of the group." he said as he smiled to the rest of the staff. He headed over to one of the walls as he leaned against it, making a few times eye contact with Amara and to the other staff, waiting for the rest and the meeting to start.
Miquel was meditating making contact with the floor. Something he did to stay focused and ready to see what was going to happen. The earth could tell much for him, even the people that walked by. It was a shade that gave away the person standing in front or walking by. The moment the pager went off, his connection disappeared as he stood up to look what was going on.
A meeting was about to begin in the War Room and he was asked to attend it. Miquel being one of the few newer staff members didn't mind to see what was going on, as he grabbed his staff. It was something he always had with him. He could lean on it, use it as a weapon, but most important it gave him an connection with the ground and earth. So as quickly as he could, his staff hitting the ground giving a soft ticking noice with it, he headed to the War Room.
Once arrived he looked around at the people as he gave a smile. "Sorry I am late." he said. He looked around but he saw that the meeting hasn't started yet. It was good as he made his way next to the girls Amara and Theresa as he leaned on his staff waiting for the meeting to begin.
Betsy had been finishing up her workout in the gym when she heard her cell phone go off. She made her way over to her phone, picked it up, and read the message, before taking a sip of water from her water bottle. Not wanting to go to the meeting feeling all sweaty and gross, she quickly hurried upstairs to clean up.
The brunette took a quick shower and wiggled into a pair of blue jeans with a black tank top. She decided to wear her hair down, and hurried down to the War Room. A lot people were already there. "I'm sorry I am late" she said as she made her way over to an empty chair and took a seat.
Amy walked in a few minutes after Betsy. She was running late as she had stayed behind to answer a student's questions. Feeling like she needed some caffine before heading to the meeting, she stopped at the kitchen to get herself a cup of coffee. She didn't like being late and was a little embarrassed as she saw eyes turn towards her. At least the meeting hadn't started yet. "I'm sorry I am late. I am excuse me" she said as she made her way to stand next to Miguel, Amara, and Theresa. She smiled and waved to Betsy when she saw the brunette. She then took a sip of her coffee.
Two days. Kalina had been there for two days. Already there was a staff meeting. 'Ok I got this...' she breathed out as she tried to remember her way to the war room. She shook her head briefly. The War Room. What kind of place were they running here exactly?
She had already met a few of the other staff but not quite all. She basically had the weekend for orientation, to be shown around and to memorize a map. The doors slid open, "S...sorry I got lost." she breathed out as she found a spot along the wall.
She didn't NORMALLY feel self-conscious but with all the staff in the room, and a LOT she hadn't met yet, she couldn't help it. She had hoped nothing was wrong. Then again she hadn't even been there for a long time and if something was wrong with her, wouldn't it have been a private matter?
"Just a few more." Xavier spoke answering the question. With everyone's schedules at the school being different he had meetings planned throughout the day with small groups of staff and even a few students. The meeting with the students and the staff that was needed at that meeting would come later after class let out for the day. He wanted to make sure they were all well aware that they would still be students at this school no matter what promotion they got.
He waited patiently as each of the staff invited to this meeting arrived and once the last one was seated he began. "Thank you all for coming. We have a few things to discuss today. I split these meetings up to work with everyone's class schedule. You may already know what this is about if you talked to those in the last meeting." "After talking to students and staff I feel its time we change how we train the students. The student teams were good for building teamwork, but the students were feeling they weren't really learning much more besides that since they were learning to control their powers in some of the gym classes with other students. The student teams wont be going away. We will be keeping them for younger students who still need to learn the value of teamwork. For other students, we will be having a one on one mentor program between a student and a Staff member that can best help that student. May it be power wise, training, or just to help them better see the world."
Leaning over slightly the Professor pulled a set of folders with a pen attached to each one, each labeled with the names of the staff members present. "Please find the one with your name on it and pass them to the next person." The folders went to the person closest to him first. "Inside these folders are the list of students who qualify for this program. The names crossed off in red are those already taken. You will get to pick the student you are going to mentor. When you decide who you want circle the name and leave your folder on the table at the end of the meeting."
When the pile came to Rylan he looked through it for the one with his name before passing the pile along to the person next to him. The man slipped his tablet into the pocket of his coat before opening it to the list. The folder held multiple pages. One the left side was the student list and the other a list of other teams. Above the team the words Blue Medical was written. For now, he left that alone to pull up the other page to read the names. Without much thought in it, he quickly circled the zombie's name. Wasn't much he could do to get her killed.
Xavier waited until everyone got their folders before continuing. "Our next order of business is the X-Men team. In the left side of the folder, you will find four sheets of paper listing teams. Please ignore the fourth sheet for now and just look at the first three." The first sheet was titled Blue and below that the team leaders, Wanda and Logan followed by the Medical staff assigned to that team. Rylan was listed. After that was the team members. Aetona, Amara, David, Jennifer, Johnny, Ororo, Bobby, and Q. The second sheet was much the same way except it was titled Gold with the leaders being Theresa and Scott and Jean was listed for Medical. Alison, Giselle, Kirby, Olympia, Piotr, Theresa, Nicholas and Lilija(possibly Elena too depending on what her player says) were listed as team members. The third sheet had a list of the remaining staff members. It was labeled reserves. "Our X-Men have grown to the point where two teams are needed. They both function the same way, but in most circumstances, only one will be sent out at a time."
Who: Logan, Ororo, Piotr With: Rylan, Aetona, Theresa, Amara, Jean, Professor X, Nicholas, Miquel, Betsy, Amy, Kalina Where: XM/War Room When: Tues Oct 10, 2017/Afternoon
Piotr joined the meeting just as it started. He had been helping Penelope with a maintenance issue, and had to clean up a bit. He took his folder and looked through it, noting his presence on Gold Team and his assigned student.
Logan barely glanced at his folder, knowing what team he was on. He handed the stack to Ororo, and she flipped through her folder, taking note.
Once Ororo was done, Jean took the file from her and set to work taking her own notes as well as marking which student she would become a mentor too. The truth was she really didn't have any preference and would love to help any of their students come into their own. She wasn't too surprised to see that the teams had been broken up the way that they had been and with a smile she handed the folder back to Amara who chose her own student before handing the file on to Theresa. Once Theresa was done, she handed the file off to the next person so that everybody had a chance to go through it.
Kalina focused hard on the bald mans words. She pulled a small notepad out of her back-pocket. It had red and green peppers in the shape of music notes on it. She thought it was fitting.
She was handed a folder. She really didn't know anything about these kids so she circled one that she thought sounded fine and handed it off. She then glanced at the top three sheets of the next one like she was asked.
Thankfully she wasn't really on a list. She didn't see her power all that great in reality. She couldn't help but balk a bit about a girl named Moonbeam or Deadgirl. Was she REALLY dead? Was she a zombie now? Would they allow a zombie in a school? Did she eat brains? Drink blood? No, the blood was a vampire.
Vampires weren't real. Neither were zombies, right? She passed off the folders to the person beside her, "Here ya go." she smiled as she went back to scribbling on her note pad. So many people in here, it was a good thing she wasn't claustrophobic.
Aetona looked at the folder she was handed thinking the Fates were actively messing with her...or Aphrodite was. She muttered something unintelligible as she circled Kate's name on the list of available students for mentoring before sliding the list along to whoever hadn't gotten it yet. But after marking her choice she was back to mentally glaring at whichever higher power put her on the same team as the doctor who got her attention so well.
Then she went back to waiting for the rest of the meeting to conclude, her visage calm and collected in spite of her mental state. Though she stolidly kept her eyes on the professor, the better to avoid another slip of her control by looking at her new team leader. Though she quieted her mind to think of the best way to train the girl she'd chosen for herself after a span. While also reminding herself not everyone was as close to unbreakable as she was.
