Doug... no, Cypher wasn't in the greatest of moods. He didn't like it here at Xavier's. Sure, the food was good and the beds were comfortable, but the people here was fools. Not stupid, just idealist fools, thinking that hiding here at Xavier's estate somehow meant they were 'peacefully coexisting' with humans. Humans who'd just as soon kill all mutants out of fear, ignorance, and hubris.
Still, he didn't know what to do about it. He wasn't a warrior. Pretty much any mutant here could kick his ass, so he just kept his head down, stayed quiet, and hoped Xavier didn't read his thoughts too much. He didn't wish any harm to the other mutants here, he just thought they were naïve.
Having lost his hacking rig before coming to Xavier's, Doug was in the workshop, building a new one from some old laptops and computer components he'd scavenged around the school. While the pop culture view of computer hackers fetishized high tech computer setups, that was nonsense. Sure, techies like the best tools, but real hackers preferred cheap, easily disposable hardware. You don't need fancy graphics or tons of high speed RAM to bypass a firewall. Cracking encryption was faster with heavy processing power, but he didn't need help with that.
He sat at a workbench, wearing safety goggles as he soldered two components together as Fall Out Boy's latest album played from his cell phone's speakers. And yes, he'd pirated the album. He's a villain, after all.
