When Kitty was younger, she was told horrific stories about the holocaust by her family, which made her anxious and scared about something like that happening to her. But then her grandfather, who took her to the holocaust museum, showed her there was more for her to be than just anxious and scared. She could learn from what happened and help make sure it never happened to anyone else. Throughout her younger years, she always had an affinity towards computers and how they ticked. She built her very own virus protector at the age of eleven, although it wasn’t as in-depth as one she would make when she grew older.
Around the age of thirteen, she began getting awful headaches and migraines that kept her from even attending school sometimes. What she didn’t know was that she had the power of intangibility and the headaches were a sign that her power was coming out. The X-Men came to her to invite her to their institution, although Kitty was a little afraid of what this meant for her, and what her powers really were.
She visited a malt shop with some of the X-Men, and began something of a close friendship with Storm, there she learnt more about her powers and other mutants. Learning about the struggles they were going through, and would face, Kitty had to make a decision. Knowing about what happened to her people in the Holocaust, she knew that she didn't want anyone else going through it and so she decided it was worth going with them and learning how to hone her powers to help others.
With that, she became the youngest member of the X-Men. She spent most of her time training, although she easily walked through a scenario that Professor Xavier had taken weeks to set up for her. She took well to most people there, although there was definitely an adjustment period to getting used to everyone. She was able to assist in missions at the young age of 13, although in the comforts of the X-Mansion, saying she would be on the reserves team, and went through several different code names like Sprite and Ariel before settling on Shadowcat, which made more sense with her power and such. Because she couldn't go on missions with them in person, she continued to train herself in the Danger Room when she had freetime. She also continued her dancing classes and became proficient in ballet, modern dance, and ballroom dancing
Throughout being an X-Men, she went through a lot of different adventures, and missions with the others, by making sure their plans were thought out and to help out with anything she could, since Professor X wouldn't allow her to actually be there in person with the other X-Men. She also continued to maintain her normal life. Because of her genius level mind, mostly when it involved computers, she was able to graduate high school early, at the age of sixteen. She is going to college online for business and her teaching degree so that she can teach at the school when she finishes. She's taking it slightly slower, to focus on training and helping out with whatever the teachers need, being a teaching assistant or gopher basically. When she turned eighteen, she was able to officially be an X-Man.
SkillsBasic hand to hand combat, Fluent in Hebrew, knows some Russian and some Gaelic. She's an expert in ballet, modern dancing, ballroom dancing. She is also a computer genius, although she doesn't like using that word.
AppearanceKitty is about five foot and five inches tall and weighs about 125 pounds. She has brown hair that goes a little bit past her shoulders. She also has green eyes that convey her emotions very easily. She’s lightly tanned from her days out in the sun and physically fit from everything she does with the X-Men and the training she took outside of it. She doesn’t go out of her way to look pretty, because there are more important things, but she does make sure she looks nice.
PowersIntangibility & Phasing: Intangibility, or phasing, is the power to pass through solid things, by moving her atoms through the spaces between the atoms of the object she moves through. Meaning, she and the object she passes temporarily merge together. She passes through the objects at the same rate of movement as before, which can be dangerous in thicker objects like underground and thick walls because she is unable to breath in the space between the two sides. Also while intangible, while she can have things go through her mystical attacks still damage her and cause her harm. Stopping midway through solid material can cause serious harm to her body and phasing through someone else and stopping can cause harm on them, more so than her. She can only stay inside for as long as she can hold her breath, which is about two minutes, give or take how good of a breath she takes before going through something. Metals can make her sick, even to the point where she will throw up or can't stand on her own if too much metal passes through her body consecutively, say up to 15 pounds of any kind of metal where that will make her pass out, and Vibranium can pierce her and make her solidify and hurt. She can go through adamantium but it will hurt her, leaving marks on her body when she solidifies, and make her sicker than the usual metals. Sometimes, also, when she is caught by surprise she will turn intangible, or if she's intangible and she's caught by surprise she can solidify, which can cause problems especially in high stress situations. Although this hasn't happened in a few years since she has more control of her powers now.
Selective Intangibility: Kitty can make other people and objects intangible and go through other solid objects like her, but she has to have some kind of link for them all. The link has to either by them touching her or others touching the persons she's touching. Although, she has to use considerable energy and concentration with the more people she helps go through. Usually two or three people is the most that she can take at a time with her. The object can't be big enough that she can't lift it or pull it in some kind of way.
Electronic Disruption: When phasing through electronic objects, she can disrupt the system. Older systems are more susceptible to her disruption but she can still do damage to modern systems. Not as much as older systems but still some to make it stop working for about fifteen or thirty minutes, depending on how well it's made.
Camouflage: Kitty can camouflage into the colors of her surrounds and make herself practically invisible to anything seen to the naked eye. Although with this one, she has to concentrate harder than she does with her regular powers. She also can't move too much.
Air and Water Walking: When intangible, she can freely walk on air and water. Air is harder for her to walk on because it's not something she can see, making it hard for her to see that she can actually do it. She discovered this power about a year after finding out she was a mutant. She had been in the Danger Room and tried to get out of the way of a laser thing set up by Professor X. She hadn't wanted to fall on the ground and she had found out that she could stay on the air if she concentrated. She also tried it out with water, finding it easier for her to walk on than air.
While intangible, her thoughts are highly erratic, as if she doesn’t have a mind to be affect telepathically.
